This project was inspired by the coursework done in IT221 and IT421 taught by Kevin Scrivnor. In our Unix System Programming courses, we used Raspberry Pi systems to develop basic scripting abilities, learned to navigate the Linux terminal, and created and managed a simple server hosted on a Virtual Machine.
Through our experience in Professor Scrivnor’s courses, we decided that we wanted to continue to work with the Raspberry Pi to develop a further understanding of its many capabilities. With both of us having an interest in video games, we thought that creating a RetroPi game emulator would be fun and challenging. To add to the challenge, we decided that we would try housing the Raspberry Pi in a retired Atari 1200 XL case and update a few of the features to make it fully compatible with the newer hardware.
